Hospital Stay

Paul recently checked in at the hospital for a tune up. He wasn't tolerating the high dose steroid treatment they started him on to help with his protein wasting issue. It is kind of a viscous cycle when you are in end stage heart failure and cannot manage your protein as well because both problems create similar symptoms and it can be difficult to manage. He received several protein infusions and was also on a diuretic drip. He lost nearly 20 pounds of fluid in three days. We couldn't believe it. He was in good spirits most of the time and Eden had a great time going up to visit too. He is home now and so very tired but we hope he will have some improvement in the next few weeks. He is a little sick of being glued to the bed! Frankly, I am too and would love him to join Eden and I for a fun outing. We probably should just expect this to be somewhat the norm for this year though. I am now back to work a couple days a week so we can have benefits at this time and I am sure I will get pretty sick of the place in the next year between my shifts and Paul's admissions. I do have to say though that it is a blessing that I have a job and a skill to fall back on. It has been fun to see my friends at work more often too but I truly hate being away from Eden and Paul especially when they need me most. Thank goodness for family and friends!!! Thank you so much to all of you that are helping out. I never have been one to easily accept help so this will be my year to just let that go (along with a lot of other things too)!!!!

Hi Lynnette! I would love to come get Eden one of these days while you're at work! Isaac gets bored frequently and needs social stimulation and interaction. He and Eden would get along great! Keep me in mind, for sure!!! Love your blog! It's perfect for keeping tabs on you guys. So sorry Paul is feeling so rotten. He is in our constant prayers.
